Staying Fit on the Road

Traveling can make your workout schedule a little more complicated. It can throw you off your typical programming, disrupt your sleep cycle, or leave you feeling unmotivated and lethargic. Despite the challenges, there are plenty of ways to stay fit and keep moving while traveling. Here are some tips to stay fit while traveling:

1)  Drop in at a new gym. Use your trips as an opportunity to meet new people, be coached by new eyes, and experience different fitness environments. Each box has their own unique style and its always fun to workout alongside new people in a new place!

2)  Hit a hotel workout. There are a myriad of different movements and workouts you can put together on your own if you can’t find a gym or don’t have time to make it into a class. If worse comes to worst, you can always just do burpees or any other bodyweight movement. Burpees work every time, no matter what!

3)  Get outside. Whether you're on a beach or in the mountains, get outside and do something active. Bring your pup and do something fun! It doesn’t have to involve any equipment at all. You just need to move your body and get your blood flowing.

4)  Stretch at the airport or rest stops. If fitness just isn’t fitting in the schedule, don’t let your muscles tighten up as you travel. Use flight delays or rest stops as your opportunity to mobilize some of your problem spots and stay limber!

Of course the most important part of all of this is to go out and do something! If you are going to a new gym with new people in a new environment, you will probably push yourself much harder than normal. If you’re limited with equipment or space, pick something simple and work hard. Don’t worry if you’re not feeling very motivated before, you will absolutely feel better after moving when on the road!
